Step 1: lay the sheep's body
Start with the sheep's body. Line up 12 Kapla planks vertically, pressed tightly against one another, to form a large rectangle lying down.
Step 2: build the back and the belly in Kapla
Now lay 4 planks horizontally over the body: two right at the top for the back, and two right at the bottom for the belly. They hold all the vertical planks together.
💡 Astuce : press firmly on the planks on top so the body is held tight — that keeps everything from collapsing at the next step!
Step 3: add the legs and the tail
Stand 4 planks under the belly to make the sheep's legs. Then add 1 tilted plank at the back of the body for the tail.
Step 4: build the head with 4 planks
On the left-hand side of the back, stand 2 planks to make the sides of the head. On top of them, add 2 planks lying flat to close the head off.
Step 5: add the ears with 2 planks
To finish, add 2 planks tilted upwards, right at the top of the head, to make the ears. And there you go, your Kapla sheep is done!
How many planks do you need to make a Kapla sheep?
Our Kapla sheep model takes fewer than 30 planks (28 Kapla), which makes it a quick and simple build with a first box of Kapla.
This model suits children from age 2 with an adult alongside them as an introduction to Kapla, and from 3 to 3.5 years old on their own.
